The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica, through Resolution DM-RC-2214-2024 establishes an updated yellow fever vaccination requirement for passengers entering Costa Rica.
What is important to keep in mind?
- As of May 11, 2025, all passengers entering Costa Rica from the following countries must present a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days prior to the scheduled travel date of entry into the country:
African continent: (Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Republic of South Sudan, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia).
America: (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago).
- This resolution also applies to passengers of Costa Rican nationality traveling from Costa Rica to any of the countries indicated above. In this case it will be necessary to present the vaccination certificate prior to boarding the flight.
